Crystal Sapphires: Random

Mr. Roman had seen his daughter climbing on his new fence from inside the kitchen. He walked with lightning speed out through the glass door that led to the vast lawn. He rushed over to her without making any sound, snatched her off the wall and gently placed her on one of the large white lawn chairs. He had a look of disappointment in his light gray eyes.
“Sandra! How many times do I have to tell you to not spy on the neighbors. It’s rude and they will start to think that you are up to something that is no good.”
Mr. Roman was a man of power, a CEO of a very large bank back in New York City,  a man voted best dressed in a fashion magazine two years in a row. He and his daughter had just moved into their new house under a month ago. After his wives death he had decided to spend more time with Sandra. What a better way to move on with life than to literally move, he searched for this home for at least a year. When he found it, he fell in love with its mystique and old world charm.
As soon as her feet touched the ground and her back felt the cold chair he saw a look of terror on her face. She could make a sound.
“Are you ok, honey? Did I scare you?”
Honestly she was scared out of her mind, but not from his actions. She knew that Monstera’s had seen her. She faintly yelped when her father grabbed her from the wall and a crash in the next yard confirmed her fears.
When she caught her breathe she was able to say a few words, “I didn’t hear you coming.” This was followed by a slanted smile on her face. She automatically felt a need to keep what she saw to herself, even though her father had friends in high places and all her fears could be settled by night fall.
He apologized and asked her to get ready for dinner, but she just saw what has only been shown in Midnight Halloween Horror Marathons. Even if it was the late winter and there was a fresh bright layer of snow on the ground all Sandra could think of were the piercing blue eyes of the girl next door who was watching out of her bedroom window.
Jenny Monstera was the owner of those crystal sapphire eyes. She had shown Sandra around the neighborhood the day she moved in. Sandra had noticed something cold about her but thought it must have been a combination of being shy and forced kindness.
