A Time Of Terror: Loose Beginnings

A time of terror once reigned, it dominated the entire land, from the towering mountains of ice to the valleys left behind from the revolutions. An icy world, cold to the touch and frozen to the sight filled this dimension, a place no human has ever been, well one or two might have gotten in, but that’s another story. This one involves a select few key players, the most important (to her that is) is the Queen of Ice the powerfully wicked and wickedly powerful.
Her royal majesty had made a unified population and the royal court, made from members of the old era, made sure that the rules were followed and taken seriously. For if you did not follow them to perfection you became a trader and this would end you up being frozen in time, a chillingly beautiful process that trapped all your essence and locked them away for eternity. This was a fate worse than death, but wasn’t the worst thing in the land of wonderland. Terrible creatures roam the forests and oceans, mad people fled to the farthest reaches of the realm, and the queen herself was a reason for suicide.
After enough time past she became jaded of this land, enough for her to abandon her son to the court. She knew of an escape that only the royal blood could bring to light, a rabbit hole of sorts. Her frigid soul sealed it when she had ventured through it, but this wouldn’t be the last time it was used. This rabbit hole lead her to our world, where she was not satisfied so she found her way to others and was never heard from again.
But enough about the past, the present is such a great place to start this story. Along with the council, Prince Azul has turned the land into a wonderful place. Time warped buildings and mixes from the past and future, anything they could find. Combined together these object made the city of Wonderland a beautiful kingdom where all are equal. Yet all of Wonderland is not like this, once you get past the city walls you will have to mess with the mobs, which formed after the queen vanished. They don’t feel its fair that the prince is in power, after all what did he do to deserve the crown?
Secretly Prince Azul has wondered off to the promise land, the land outside the walls, and he has searched for his mother, but with no luck he always found his way back home. The dump where the other dimensions garbage was filtered is where he spent most of his time. The object amused his mind, and finding the oddest objects brought him joy. Daily he went to this dump, collecting what he thought was useful, but today he stumbled across a more interesting object than ever before.
A picture lay in his hand, it looked as if somebody took the most beautiful girl and put her in rags. She had dark black hair which was foreign to him, since everyone in wonderland had either red or blonde hair, the royal blood having the blonde hair, nearly white. He slipped the picture into his pocket and went on his way back to the palace, carefully though so that the guards would not see his majestic entrance.
Prince Azul had few friends, one being the head of the council, Jack of Hearts is what Azul called him because of his willingness to help raise him after his mother left. Azul trusted him with everything, so naturally he brought him the picture to have it described, he knew it was a girl but from when and where? The questions just spilled out when he saw the Jack of Hearts.
“My dear Azul, you have stumbled upon a fine piece of history right here. It has been past down to each generation of my family that a girl once came to our land, she was from a world of machinery and only human intelligence, a truly barbaric land.”
“It sounds so weird, what kind of humans lived there? Where they like us?”
“They were something like us,” chucked the Jack of Hearts, “they weren’t as diverse as us, we have many creatures and equality in our kingdom, there they all felt separated and this caused wars.”
“Like the ones mother put a stop to?”
Azul had never learned of his mother’s tyranny, he only knew of her to leave the land. He wanted to know about her but the topic would always change, sort of how it is going to right now.
“Well I don’t know exactly, but I do know you should keep this picture, it is of a beautiful woman, and it’s pretty recent. This number right here is how they kept track of the days in the other land. I wouldn’t be surprised if you were to find more of these in your journeys.”
Azul just sat there staring at the picture. After about two minutes he slipped it into his pocket and walked off, turning to the Jack of Hearts, “Thank you friend, thank you for everything.”
The Jack of Hearts stood up with his large wings and brushed off his lap where Azul had placed the picture. He walked towards the closet and pulled out his robe, placed it on his shoulders and entered the room of questions. A meeting was about to start, the topic: Azul.
Azul had no idea of any thoughts to over throw him as power, all he knew was that he needed to meet a girl to become king one day. The thought bothered him because all the girls in wonderland were selfish and always thought about themselves, where as Azul loved people and only wanted everyone’s happiness. The thought of having to marry a woman from Wonderland sickened him, to the point where he would not wake up some mornings, he would stay in his bed all day.
Later that night when the meeting had finished, the Jack of Hearts (jack for short) approached Azul, he whispered to him, “run to my office and lock the door, I will come get you when it is safe, just hide in the closet, there is a chest you can store yourself in under a blanket.”
