Work Experience
LIFT Summer Camp (New London Public Schools), Summer 2009 and 2010
Position Held: Student Aid,
I was essentially a camp counselor, along with the other counselors we went on day trips to Block Island and the Hartford Science Center. We also did science experiments with the children (age 12) such as rocket building and a marine study. I was personally responsible for the medication bag, keeping an eye on all of the children, and creating a happy learning environment.
New London Public Schools, September 2010 – December 2010
I was a Special Education One on One Student Aide. I was assigned to one special needs child who need help in every class. The child I worked with was from another country and could speak English but wrote and read very poorly. I was responsible for not doing his work, but guiding him along. I helped him sound out words, figure out tricks to spelling and to be motivated.

I also worked overnights where I taught classes (discovery tank, penguin’s class, tours, etc.) Throughout both of these jobs I learned how to communicate and relay information so that people could understand it.
